The province’s health authorities announced that the strict face mask policy will be lifted on March 11 at 12:01 a.m., which also applies to BC Ferries and TransLink, making it no longer compulsory.

BC is in a good position when it comes to cases and transmission of the virus, according to Dr. Bonnie Henry. The approaches that BC has used to help curb the spread of COVID-19 are no longer necessary.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, the province’s health officer, stated she was leaving the door open for organizations like TransLink to develop their own mask rules; nevertheless, a TransLink statement affirmed that they would be following BC health officials’ recommendations and not requiring masks.

Despite the update, customers and employees on HandyDART will continue to be required to wear masks.

That isn’t to imply that you can’t wear a mask on transit if you want to.

“Employees and customers of TransLink may still wear masks on-board transit vehicles and at transit stations, depending on their own level of comfort.”

Both BC Ferries and BC Transit will most likely adopt similar policies, but with no word from either yet.
